S'í:wes te S'ólh Téméxw (Teachings of Our Land):
Published Description:
The course established by the S'ólh Téméxw Stewardship Alliance provides Stó:lo youth with an opportunity to develop their understanding of Sto':lo¯ principles (in Halq'eméylem and English) related to land and governance as a means of identifying connections between themselves, the land, and the language. Students demonstrate their learning through the recognition and usage of Halq'eméylem language on the land, during group discussions, through self-reflection, and in learning from Knowledge Holders and other experts. These connections between land, language, and identity provide numerous opportunities for transformative learning and the development of positive personal and cultural identity. A ceremony is held on the last day of the course wherein the participants' learning is honoured in the presence of the course facilitators, language teachers, Knowledge Holders, their families, and community members. --SUB HST SUB CODE: 11
