A program designed to help new learners become fluent in ns¿lxcin/nsyilxcn, Colville-Okanagan Salish. This program builds strong foundations in the nsyilxcn language through immersive practice between students and language instructors. This course builds from nsyilxcn 1 and focusses on syilx oral teachings. Students participate in various traditional activities with a focus on the syilx oral history connected to syilx values and ways of being and knowing. Activities include visits to traditionally significant sites, canoeing, drumming and singing.
The Captikwl Book 1 program culminates in a completion ceremony where students present a completed story to their community in nsyilxcn, helping develop a deeper connection to their culture.
