The 6 Response

The six response meets all the criteria of a five: its superiority to the five response is a result of degree, not kind. The level of insight may be particularly convincing and/or subtle or the writing exceptionally impressive. Certainly the six response exhibits a depth of understanding and a sophisticated use of language.

449 04 - A clear precise vocabulary highlights this superior response. The student forcefully demonstrates a mature understanding of the central metaphor. The specific reference to the crows as "anxious spectators" is indicative of this student’s level of understanding.

011 11 - This paper is noteworthy for its strong voice and unity of purpose. It immediately establishes the "malevolent" nature of the ice dancing partnership and proceeds to marshall strong evidence to support that insight. Vocabulary and syntax are sophisticated but it is the superiority of thought and logic which are particularly admirable.

311 13 - A manipulation of the language involving imagery, sophisticated use of vocabulary, alliteration and other devices make this particular paragraph an engaging read. Excellent use of quotes, specific references to the poem and diction/verb choice are particularly evident. The word choice demonstrates a solid understanding which constitutes a higher level paper.
