The 4 Response

The four paper is clearly adequate. The prose is able to convey the writer's ideas, but without flair or strong control. Diction and syntax are usually appropriate, but lack variety. Structure, regardless of type, is predictable and relatively mechanical. The reader has a clear sense of the writer's purpose, but is not engaged by the prose. Conventions of language are usually followed, but the reader is aware of errors.

93 26 - This paper is on the higher end of the four scale point. It starts quite strongly, but becomes weaker as it develops. The third paragraph is repetitive. The exhortation of the conclusion is simplistic. In general the language of the essay is overly conversational in tone.

93 01 - While this paper is certainly on the brief side, it is sufficient to fulfill the requirement. After a very bad opening sentence, the mechanics are adequate for draft work. Content is typical of the four paper.

278 02 - Predictable narrative. The paper incorporates description and dialogue to make a rather obvious moral lesson. Mechanics are not flawless but errors are not glaring.
