Appendix 8: Error Monitoring

Capitalization

  1. Is the first word of each sentence capitalized?
  2. Have I capitalized all proper nouns?
  3. If I'm unsure of something, have I asked for help?

Overall Editing and Appearance

  1. Is my handwriting well spaced and is it legible?
  2. Is my paper neat? (Without smudges, not crumpled, not ripped.)
  3. Have I indented and kept straight margins?
  4. Have I used complete sentences?
  5. If I'm unsure of something, have I asked for help?

Punctuation

  1. Do I have the right punctuation mark at the end of each sentence?
  2. Have I used commas where they are needed? (In series, to separate thoughts).
  3. If I'm unsure of something, have I asked for help?

Spelling

  1. Eyeball it. Does it "look" right?
  2. Have I tried to sound it out?
  3. Have I looked it up in the dictionary?
  4. If I'm unsure of something, have I asked for help?
