Satisfaction Survey

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1 Is the web survey run from a central location?
Yes, the Ministry hosts the survey from a secure central location. A. Willock Information Systems (AWIS) has been contracted by the Ministry to provide the electronic survey to schools in the province.
Q2 Does the system generate the Logon Codes or is it the school's responsibility?
The system randomly generates the logon codes for each school to ensure anonymity. AWIS will be providing these numbers to school principals.
Q3 Can questions be added by districts?
Some questions can be added at no charge to school districts, but there is a small charge for schools to add questions. However, schools should coordinate with their school district office to avoid question duplication. Also, to avoid redundancy in questions related to citizenship and social responsibility, schools and districts are encouraged to review the Citizenship and Social Responsibility Survey.
Q4 When do districts or schools have to provide questions?
By December 3, 2007. However, schools should coordinate with their district to avoid question duplication. AWIS will be in touch with each district about the process for adding questions.
Q5 What format can the district questions be in? (open-ended; different response scale etc.)
Any format is acceptable and they can have a different response scale from the rest of the survey.
Q6 How was the survey developed?
The surveys were initially developed with consultation from a broad range of stakeholder groups and education professionals. Annual technical analyses show that the questionnaire forms are valid and reliable.
Q7 How long does it take to do the survey?
On the day of surveying, the set up time for a lab with 25 computers is estimated to be 15 minutes (bring up the web page on each computer and cut up the printed logon codes so they are ready to hand out to students). It takes only about 10 minutes for a whole class to fill out the survey online. While technical difficulties are rare, practice with the e-survey is recommended ahead of time in order to ensure there will be no technical problems. It takes about 2 minutes per computer to bring up the web page and try the practice logon code to confirm the survey can be accessed.

Q8

How much time do we have to do the survey?
Schools have almost 3 months to complete the e-survey. Because electronic data gathering is more streamlined, it allows us to give schools almost 3 months to respond, compared with about 6 weeks for paper surveys. This allows schools to schedule surveying more easily.
Q9 Is technical support available?
Yes, if there are any technical problems or questions, AWIS can be contacted at 1-866-558-5339 or by email at dwillock@awinfosys.com during their business hours (M-F, 7:30 am to 5 pm)
