Tasks Overview

A total of twenty-four ICTI tasks were developed by a group of practicing educators - 12 for grades 5-7 and 12 for grades 8-10. The core areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science as well as elective areas such as Fine Arts and Home Economics are included. Some tasks have been designed to be cross grade or interdisciplinary. Not all tasks have been field tested but have been included in order to provide an opportunity for most teachers to find a task appropriate to their students. Additional tasks and student samples will be provided when available.

The tasks have been developed using a consistent framework based on current research. Each task provides:

• General description of the task
• The critical question to be addressed
• Key learning outcomes taken from the provincial IRP's
• Teaching and Learning Activities
• Student Assessment
