Chinese Government Scholarship

Students from British Columbia will have the opportunity to study at a Chinese university on scholarships from the People’s Republic of China, in collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Advanced Education and Labour Market Development.

Students studying abroad will gain valuable exposure to Chinese language, culture and business practices, as well as an opportunity to develop enriching life-long relationships across the Pacific.

The scholarships will be provided to graduating secondary school students and students enrolled in post-secondary studies in undergraduate, masters and doctoral degree programs. Full and partial scholarships are available.

There is an allowance for remedial Chinese language support for successful applicants who are not proficient in the language. Eligibility criteria, application procedures, application form and further information about the Chinese Scholarship are contained in the application package.

Application Deadline for the 2010 academic year

The deadline for receiving applications for the 2010 academic year (commencing September 2010) is December 31, 2009.

Notification of Scholarship Winners for 2010 academic year

The Inspector of Independent Schools, in cooperation with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, will notify successful candidates.

The scholarship is open-ended with ongoing monitoring of the success of the program. The final decision as to the term of the program is at the discretion of the People’s Republic of China.
