Education Minister Shirley Bond was joined by Minister of Healthy Living and Sport Mary Polak and Minister of Technology, Trade and Economic Development Ida Chong to mark International Walk to School Day at Frank Hobbs Elementary in Victoria. During the event, Minister Bond particpated in a walking school bus and challenged schools across the province to go “green” by setting up their own walking school buses or bicycle trains to reduce their carbon footprint. Walking school buses and bicycle trains function like a conventional school bus by making predetermined stops to pick up and drop off students on the way to and from school.
