Parent Representation
-
We have put District Parent Advisory Councils' into the School Act.
DPAC is the legislated parent voice at the school district level, representing the collective views of Parent Advisory Councils in a school district.
-
We have amended the School Act to allow every school in B.C. to form a
school planning council.
The council acts as an advisory body in the development, monitoring and reviewing of school plans for student achievement.
-
Parents can now make
direct written complaints to the B.C. College of Teachers. Parents want teachers held accountable for their actions, and they now have the right to make a written complaint about a teacher's conduct.
-
Parents are now a part of district review teams.
Regular reviews of school district performance are part of the ministry's new Accountability Framework and provide districts with recommendations for improving student achievement.
