Literacy
The provincial government is committed to helping children and adults gain the literacy skills they need for full participation in society. Our goal is to make BC the best-educated, most literate jurisdiction on the continent.
In October 2006, Minister of Education Shirley Bond announced a series of literacy intiatives for teachers, parents and students to help children gain the reading, writing and math skills they need to succeed at school.
This site will provide examples of proven reading, writing and oral language strategies for teachers and parents. The site introduces video and print resources demonstrating successful practices in early reading, writing and oral language for use in schools and at home. New information will be added regularly.
