- initiate, maintain, or end friendships
- accept or evade responsibility for choices
- describe how to be a good friend
- identify ways to initiate relationships
- identify various events or factors that can affect personal relationships
- demonstrate their understanding of how relationships can change over time
- describe positive ways to deal with loss
- encourage one another to try new skills
- praise each other for jobs well done
- avoid putdowns
- acknowledge one anothers strengths
- involve others in their activities
Periodically, ask students to write in their journals about when they or others have used these strategies to build anothers self-esteem.
