Math K-7 IRP Estimated Instructional Time

The Kindergarten to Grade 12 Education Plan (September 1994) outlines the required areas of study for the primary and intermediate years and, as appropriate, indicates the recommended time allotments for each area of learning. In the primary years, teachers are encouraged to combine various curricula to enable students to integrate ideas and see applications of knowledge. In grades 4 to 7 a minimum of 30% of the total time in school is recommended for the study of Science, Mathematics, and Technology. The following chart shows the estimated instructional time for each curriculum organizer, expressed as a percentage of total time available to teach the course.
