Math K-7 IRP Number (Number Operations)

Students demonstrate an understanding of and a proficiency with calculations. They decide which arithmetic operation or operations can be used to solve a problem and then solve the problem.

Prescribed Learning Outcomes Illustrated Examples

It is expected that students will:
  • estimate the solutions to calculations involving whole numbers and decimal fractions
  • -> On an average day in Canada, about 73 000 Canadians celebrate their birthdays. About how many people must there be in Canada? Estimate an answer. Use a calculator to find the answer.
