Appendix
F: Illustrative Examples Introduction
This appendix contains a
series of examples designed to help teachers understand the prescribed learning
outcomes and suggested extensions for Mathematics 8 and 9.
The prescribed learning
outcomes have been paired with examples that illustrate the types of activities
an average student should be able to complete for each course.
- With the exception of
the Problem Solving organizer, all prescribed learning outcomes for earlier
courses are listed.
- In some cases an illustrative
example may encompass more than one learning outcome; conversely, some outcomes
have more than one example.
Please note that:
- these illustrative examples
are not intended to be used for assessment of student performance
- the suggested extensions
are not provincial curriculum - they provide extra topics and enrichment
Examples of multi-strand
and interdiciplinary problems that most students should be able to solve are
indicated with an asterisk (*).
