Technology Education IRP Appendix F: Illustrative Examples Introduction

This appendix contains a series of examples designed to help teachers understand the prescribed learning outcomes and suggested extensions for Mathematics 8 and 9.

The prescribed learning outcomes have been paired with examples that illustrate the types of activities an average student should be able to complete for each course.

With the exception of the Problem Solving organizer, all prescribed learning outcomes for earlier courses are listed.
In some cases an illustrative example may encompass more than one learning outcome; conversely, some outcomes have more than one example.

Please note that:

these illustrative examples are not intended to be used for assessment of student performance
the suggested extensions are not provincial curriculum - they provide extra topics and enrichment

Examples of multi-strand and interdiciplinary problems that most students should be able to solve are indicated with an asterisk (*).
