Textile Fundamentals
It is expected that students will:

Textile Processes
It is expected that students will:

Textile Products
It is expected that students will:

- create a variety of textile items using commercial patterns
- analyse and describe fibres, yarns, and types of fabric construction
- identify different fabrics and their uses
- identify fabric finishes and their purposes
- evaluate textile products on the basis of their design, construction, cost, and function

- use advanced techniques and technologies to produce textile items
- identify fibres by using a variety of testing processes
- develop criteria for selecting textile products for home and personal use
- describe the use of textile products in a variety of industries

Consumerism
It is expected that students will:

- demonstrate the care of synthetic fabrics
- explain the systems used to label textile products
- describe factors that influence textile choices
- identify resources available to meet textile needs and wants in a variety of situations
- describe the implications of clothing decisions for individuals, families, and society

- demonstrate the care of fabrics made from natural fibres
- describe factors that affect textile needs and wants throughout life
- assess the relationship between individual clothing choices and an individual's sense of belonging
- assess the relationship between individual clothing choices and global issues
- critique the conditions under which textile items are manufactured

History, Culture, and Tradition
It is expected that students will:

- create a textile item incorporating cultural, historical, or traditional elements
- identify the historical and cultural factors that influence the use of textiles
- demonstrate a recognition of cultural influences on textiles and clothing

- describe historical, political, and cultural influences on contemporary clothing and textile design
- describe the role of textiles in the customs and traditions of various cultures
- describe the use of textiles in leisure activities, sports, and the arts
