Overview

Students drafted images using the design elements of northwest First Nations prints and created a series of four prints. Evaluation was based on design and printmaking skills.

The teacher developed the following criteria to emphasize the characteristics of effective design and printmaking.

The teacher developed a rating scale from the design and printmaking criteria. One overall rating was assigned to each student's series of prints.

Outstanding
    The print is perfectly inked and perfectly placed, and all design criteria are powerfully executed.

Good
    The print is well inked and well placed, and all design criteria are competently executed.

Satisfactory
    The print shows clear attempts to address each of the criteria, although in some cases these may not be particularly effective or successful.

Not Demonstrated
    Does not meet design and printmaking criteria.
