At every grade level, the fine arts curricula have been designed to provide a foundation for further study of the subjects at higher grade levels. Because learning and proficiency in the fine arts requires extensive practice and revisiting of prior skills, many prescribed learning outcomes support recursive learning. Where outcomes are identical from one grade to the next, actual treatment of the subject material is expected to increase in breadth, depth, and complexity consistent with the developmental increase in students' capabilities.
