Independent Schools Certification and Employment Registry for Teachers (IS-CERT)

Welcome to IS-CERT - Online TEACHER CERTIFICATION Application and CRC Process

New Applicants:

If you are a new applicant and have never held an independent school teaching certificate, please proceed to the IS-CERT application. Follow the screen based instructions in IS-CERT to register for a basic BCeID and create a new profile.

Existing Teachers:

If you failed to provide the Criminal Record Check (CRC) authorization prior to September 30, 2008, your teaching certificate will have become invalid. You will need to contact the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools.

Please note: If you currently held an Independent School Teaching Certificate, your profile might already be in the IS-CERT database. The system will detect your profile and will prevent you from building a duplicate one.

If your name has changed since the issuance of your original teaching certificate, the profile might be under your previous maiden or other surname. You will have to supply proof of change of name to our office to update your name in your profile.

Step 1:

  • Select Proceed to IS-CERT button below.
  • Select BCeID Login (if already registered with a basic BCeID).
  • Select "I do not have a subscription code".
  • Select the email link/button (this will launch your email and prompt you to fill out the information which will be submitted to our Office).
Step 2:
  • Once we receive your email request, your subscription code will emailed back to you. This may take a few days (we will only issue subscription codes to the applicant as per the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act).
  • Login with your BCeID "User ID and Password" (if already registered for a basic BCeID).
  • Select "I have received a subscription code by mail from the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools" and enter the unique subscription code supplied from our office.
  • Update your personal profile at Step 5 of 5 and confirm your profile.
  • Proceed to apply for a CRC and Teaching Certificate from hyperlinks on the left navigation menu.
