Independent Schools
Independent schools offer parents alternatives to a public school education.
Some parents in British Columbia choose to send their children to independent schools because these schools provide a particular religious, cultural, philosophical or educational approach.
Information about specific independent schools can be found by viewing the School Profile Tool or Ministry Reports.
For an overview of the history, rights and accountability and parental choice in independent schools consult Overview of Independent Schools in British Columbia (43KB PDF).
For specific information regarding the procedural guidelines for and regulation of independent schools consult the BC Guide for Independent Schools.
