Project Issue Management

Issues are unplanned or unknown problems that arise during the course of a project. Issues are always associated with some degree of risk to the project and therefore need to be assessed and resolved in a timely fashion either within or outside of the project's boundaries. Issue management concentrates its effort on dealing with issues quickly and effectively, before they become urgent, to avoid "crisis management" situations.

The Issue Management Process is the mechanism used to initiate, monitor and resolve project issues. It ensures that the risk to the project schedule and budget is managed and that the client is satisfied with the final product.
