H1N1H1N1 is a respiratory disease caused by the type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of flu in pigs. The symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of regular seasonal influenza and include high fever, cough, headache, general aches, fatigue, eye pain, shortness of breath, and lack of appetite. The Ministry of Education, in consultation with the Ministry of Health, has developed a Pandemic Response Framework to guide decision making at the Ministry level and provide the education system with guidance in the development of their school district pandemic plans. The Pandemic Planning Guidelines for School Districts, which are appended to the Framework, includes suggested components for school districts to consider in their planning. For all up-to-date information on H1N1, please view the Pandemic Response Framework (PDF, 292KB). |
