Mental Health
The ministries of Health Services, Healthy Living and Sport, Education and ten other partner ministries are working with health authorities, the research community, and key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive 10-year plan to address mental health and substance use across the life span. The 10-year plan will be guided by the experience of other jurisdictions in mental health systems reform, and will be informed by research and evidence at the policy and program level. The plan will better connect activities across government, and will establish mechanisms to monitor progress and ensure accountability.
In addition to this work, B.C. participated in the National Dialogue on Resilience in Youth and, as a member of the Joint Consortium for School Health (JCSH), contributed to Mental Health and Resilience and Positive Psychology scans of current practices and programs in Canadian Schools. These new scans are designed to facilitate better understanding of these issues, and highlight the evidence bases and better practices – both are available on the Joint Consortium for School Health website.
