Graduation Program 1995

Partial Course Credit

Partial course credit is a policy for students on the Graduation Program 1995 that allows courses to be divided into smaller units or modules that students may study to earn credits towards graduation. Each unit or module consists of a cohesive body of learning outcomes equal to approximately one quarter of the curriculum of a traditional Ministry-Authorized or Locally Developed Course at the Grade 11 or Grade 12 level.

Purpose of Partial Credit

Partial course credit

  • provides students and educators with the flexibility to design, organize and schedule learning activities
  • allows students to alter the direction of their Student Learning Plan by changing courses without losing credit for units or modules of these courses that they have successfully completed

The ministry specifies which ministry-developed courses will be available for partial credit. (Courses that have not been divided into units can use the Independent Directed Studies process as a reporting tool.)
