Focus Areas

In the Graduation Program, Focus Areas help students:

  • Explore a range of learning and work options
  • Develop an area of interest to focus their leaning during Grades 11 and 12
  • Think about and organize the courses they take in Grades 11 and 12
  • Explore post-secondary education or training options

Students learn about Focus Areas in their Planning 10 course.

Focus Areas are based on courses and programs available at many secondary schools and post-secondary institutions in BC. Eight Focus Areas are described in detail including the related interests, skills and competencies, sample courses associated with each Focus Area, and examples of related education and career opportunities that could be pursued.
