Can Board /Authority Authorized (BAA) courses be developed to meet the requirements of the new Graduation Transitions Program?
Yes. BAA courses support students in their successful completion of the Graduation Transitions Program requirements. BAA policy guidelines can be found on the Ministry website.
What mark do students receive upon completion?
Upon successful completion of all the Prescribed Learning Outcomes, four (4) credits and a “Requirements Met (RM)” mark are assigned, in accordance with the Ministerial Order amending the Provincial Letter Grades Order.
When will the Graduation Transitions program start?
As of September 2007, all Grade 10, 11 and 12 students in BC must meet all the Prescribed Learning Outcomes of Graduation Transitions.

Will part-time students need to meet the physical activity standard?
Yes. All secondary school students must complete 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous physical activity during their graduation program years.
How are the 150 minutes per week of physical activity to be reported? Who is responsible for approving and monitoring it?
Students are expected to develop a personal healthy living plan that includes their regular exercise routines. Schools and educators are expected to develop processes to ensure that students have met this expectation.
Is the Planning 10 curriculum changing?
The Planning 10 IRP [640 KB] is modified slightly to reflect the change from Graduation Portfolio Assessment to Graduation Transitions.
Who is responsible for ensuring that the standards are completed?
Students begin working on Graduation Transitions in Planning 10. Students are responsible for planning and preparing their education, career, and life goals through Graduation Transitions. Teachers are responsible for assessing and providing feedback to learners. Schools are responsible for ensuring that students have opportunities to meet the learning outcomes described in the Program Guide [128 KB].
How is Graduation Transitions reported to the Ministry TRAX system?
Reporting mechanisms can be found in the Handbook of Procedures.
Have the Ministry guidelines for the Passport to Education changed?
Yes. The criteria for awarding Passport to Education can be found in the Handbook of Procedures - Chapter 5.
Can students be exempted from Graduation Transitions?
No. Graduation Transitions is a graduation requirement. It is expected that all BC students will demonstrate that they have met all the Prescribed Learning Outcomes.
Is there a prescribed format for the transition plan?
No. Schools are expected to develop processes and formats that are appropriate for the unique needs of their students.
What is the presentation?
It is expected that students will participate in a final presentation. The format and level of formality are determined by the school.
Can the Graduation Portfolio Assessment meet the requirements for Graduation Transitions?
Yes. The Prescribed Learning Outcomes from Graduation Transitions requirements parallel some of the learning outcomes found in the original Graduation Portfolio Assessment.
