Provincial Examinations

2007/08 General Exam Information

  1. All provincial examinations are designed to be completed in two hours. However, any student may use up to one additional hour to complete a provincial examination.
  2. All examinations, with a few exceptions, will have an examination booklet, a response booklet for the written responses and an answer sheet for the multiple-choice (selected response) items. The exceptions are Science 10, Principles of Mathematics 10, Essentials of Mathematics 10 and Applications of Mathematics 10 (together with French versions). Because these exams do not have a written response section, a response booklet is not required. This configuration significantly reduces paper flow at the marking sessions and reduces the amount of storage space required for completed examinations.
  3. Written Response questions for Principles of Mathematics 12, Biology 12, Physics 12, Chemistry 12, Applications of Mathematics 12 and Geology 12 will appear in the response booklet because of detailed diagrams, tables and graphs which would be difficult to copy correctly. Written response questions for all other subjects will appear only in the examination booklet.
  4. Data pages are located in the centre section of the examination booklet.
  5. Multiple forms of examinations exist across examination sessions (e.g., January or June) but are also sometimes used within an examination session. For the 2007/08 school year, one form will be administered in January and June; however, more than one form will be administered in other sessions where required.
