Adobe Acrobat have been approved by the Minister of Education and may be viewed in the online Manual of School Law.

Tourism 11 -12

A recent article in the Vancouver Sun highlighted the current and emerging career opportunities for students taking Tourism 11 and 12. As well, the organisation for Tourism Teachers, BC Secondary Tourism Educators Group (BCSTEG), has produced a variety of resources to support teachers as they implement the new curriculum. Materials are available for teachers to download from BCSTEG.

Digital Resources for BC Teachers

Open School BC, a division of the Ministry of Labour and Citizens Services,
with a long history of providing educational resources and services to BC
teachers, is offering the Educators Resource Centre service to all BC
teachers.  As an online service, the ERC provides teachers with the ability
to search, download for use, and contribute a variety of learning resources.
Teachers are also encouraged to share feedback and suggestions for use on
the resources they access.

This "digital filing cabinet" is a provincial resource, and contains
material from a number of contributors, including Open School BC, COOL
School, Royal BC Museum, BC Archives, Library and Archives Canada, Parks
Canada, Statistics Canada, Provincial Capital Commission and many more.

Aboriginal Perspectives in Teaching and Learning November 22 – 23

Registration is now open for one of Canada’s largest annual Aboriginal education conferences. The conference offers a multitude of varied workshops and guest speakers, exploring the theme of Aboriginal Perspectives in Teaching & Learning. Science Education Website Seeking Pilot Schools

BCEdOnline recently highlighted The River City Project's call for pilot schools wishing to participate in a computer simulation game that generates interest in science: The River City Project is a not-for-profit organization and has developed an interactive computer simulation game for middle grades science students to learn disease transmission and scientific method. River City has the look and feel of a videogame but contains content developed from National Science Education Standards, National Educational Technology Standards, and 21st Century Skills. [More]
