Communications Protocol Agreement for StrongStart BC Programs
between the Ministry of Education and School Districts

News Release
On the day of an official opening ceremony the Ministry of Education may issue a news release. In all such news releases, the school district may have a quote from a designated representative.
Public Announcements, Official Events or Ceremonies
A ceremony may be held to commemorate the official opening of a StrongStart BC early learning program. No public announcement of a project under this protocol shall be made by either party without the prior consent of the other party.
The Ministry of Education shall receive at least four weeks notice of any proposed public announcement or official ceremony related to the opening of a StrongStart BC early learning program. The Provincial Minister or designated representative may participate in such announcements or ceremonies, to take place at a mutually agreed date and location.
The parties shall co-operate in the organization of announcements or ceremonies. Messages and public statements for such events should be mutually agreed upon.
In order to effectively inform the public about the location of StrongStart BC early learning programs, districts should provide and install a sign marking the new StrongStart BC early learning program. The design, wording and specifications of such signs must meet the Ministry of Education’s signage standards, as indicated below. The cost of signs is to be funded by the district from its approved StrongStart BC budget.
Signage and Graphics
To create a StrongStart BC sign, school districts should provide the ".eps" and ".pdf" files of the signs to the graphics company. The graphics company can use the PDF as a template by simply inserting the full name of the StrongStart BC early learning program in the bottom panel. Most StrongStart BC programs are having plaques (36”x 16”) and/or sandwich boards made that can be placed in an area visible to families.
