Early Years Initiatives
Ready, Set, Learn
One of government’s commitments is to ensure that more children are ready for success when they enter Kindergarten.
The Province's Ready, Set, Learn initiative recognizes that families need good information about how to support their young child’s early learning, as well as, development of positive connections with the school system and local community agencies.
The Ministry of Education funds boards of education to offer Ready, Set, Learn events in local schools. Families and their three-year-olds who attend will engage in play-based early learning activities while finding out about the early learning programs and services offered by the local school district and/or school. Many host schools also provide additional resources to help influence school readiness.
Ready, Set, Learn events can include school tours, visits to the school library, interactive play activities for children and their parents, information sessions for parents and caregivers, presentations by community agencies and other activities that support preschool aged children’s learning.
The parent booklet Ready, Set, Learn: Helping your preschooler get ready for school (PDF, 1.31 MB) offers parents helpful tips and easy and fun learning activities for three year olds.
Translations of the booklet Ready, Set, Learn: Helping your preschooler get ready for school are available in a number of languages.
