Data Management Unit

The Data Management Unit manages data exchanges between the school system and the ministry.

The unit develops standards and policies to continuously improve the quality and integrity of education data. Because of the personal nature of the data, maintaining security and privacy is a high priority for this unit.

The unit also works to serve ministry staff by ensuring the data collected meets current and emerging needs. The millions of records collected provide the ministry with the data it needs to monitor and report on education outcomes and trends in B.C.
