Making Connections
PrefaceStudents
are a top priority for the government of British Columbia. This commitment
can be seen in the provinces student transition initiative,
which is helping students move on to post-secondary education, training
and the workplace.
Making Connections is the first in a series of reports to the Minister of Education, to education stakeholders and the public on the work that is being done to reduce the barriers to student progress identified in Moving On: Secondary to Post-Secondary Transition. The report covers the progress of the student transition initiative up to February 1998, prior to the reorganization of the Ministry of Education, Skills and Training. Future work on student transitions will be carried out jointly by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology. The recommendations and action plans emerging from this initiative will be submitted to the Minister of Education in order to promote the education and career progress of B.C. students. The Transitions and Career Programs Initiatives Branch of the Ministry of Education manages the student transition initiative. The branch's mandate is to help students achieve their post-secondary education and career goals.
