Secondary School Work Experience

If you are a secondary student or parent and would like some background information about work experience in BC schools, we have it here.

Work experience as a part of post-secondary education is known as co-operative education. The Canadian Association For Co-operative Education (CAFCE) web site defines a co-operative education program as a program that formally integrates a student's academic studies with work experience in co-operative employer organizations. The usual plan is for the student to alternate periods of experience in business, industry, government, social services and the professions with studies. The web site contains information on the benefits of co-op education for students, employers and institutions. The web site also lists BC post-secondary institutions offering co-op education programs, with links to either their homepage or co-op education web page.
