A
Guide to the BC Economy and Labour Market provides basic information
on the industrial building blocks of BC's economy, together with characteristics
of employment and projected job growth. It details provincial industries,
with emphasis on human resource issues. Economic terms are explained (with
examples), so that a background in economics is not necessary. The book
also provides an historical perspective on the province's economy, providing
a context for BC's industries in the mid-1990s and where they are expected
to be going in the next century.
The federal government's
web site, Job Futures,
has information on occupations listed alphabetically, by National Occupational
Code (NOC) and by skill. Each listing gives information about occupation,
including education required, earnings and future prospects. It provides
graphs of current locations, unemployment, female participation rates
and possibilities for youth. Each listing is linked to related occupations.
