United States

CollegeNET offers a searchable database for US post-secondary institutions including: four year colleges (universities), two year colleges, vocational/technical and Business. Each of the listings for the institutions, accessed from state maps, provides a wealth of information on the institution's composition and performance. Direct applications to over 250 institutions are possible from this site.

Global Computing maintains a list of US universities and colleges that is accessible from a map, by aphabetical search of institution names or by a search engine.

The College Board Online offers college and university searches from a database of over 3,500 two- and four-year colleges. Search by name if you have a specific school in mind, or search by criteria (location, type of school, financial aid, etc.) to find schools that match your preferences. You'll get valuable information about each college and you can link directly to its web site.

The Maricopa Centre site contains a searchable index to the web sites for 1,200 community colleges in the United States, Canada, and elsewhere around the world. The interface allows you to search alphabetically (by the first letter of the college's name), geographically (by the country/state/province), or by keywords in the college name, location, or web address.

World Universities and Colleges

General Education On-line maintains a list of international universities and colleges. Each country's universities are listed alphabetically.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) maintains a list of universities around the world. The list is organized by country, however each country's list is arranged alphabetically only.
