Colleges provide courses and programs leading to certificates, diplomas and associate degrees in vocational, career, technology, trades and academic studies. Credit earned for some courses offered at colleges can be transferred to BC universities or university colleges.

University colleges offer undergraduate degrees, often in specialized subject areas, as well as certificate and diploma programs. They also offer courses for which the credits can be transferred to universities or other university colleges.

Institutes are organized according to career, vocational and technical specialties, covering a variety of occupations. They may offer credentials from certificates to degrees.

Universities provide undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a variety of disciplines. Many BC universities also offer certificates and diplomas in selected professional fields.
