Do you find the prospect of attending college or university daunting?  When you consider the range of programs, the number of institutions to choose from and the cost of attending, the transition is no easy matter.  This section is intended to help make your planning for post-secondary education easier.

Your career planning will have given you a sense of what education and training will be required to achieve the career you are are interested in.

You can search for the institution that offers the program you need and is the most affordable for you.  Click on the following for expanded definitions of these types of programs:

  • Academic programs lead to degrees in either general or applied studies at a university, university college or institute.
  • Vocational, career and technical programs lead to certificates or diplomas at universities, university colleges, colleges or institutes. These applied programs teach specific skills for specific jobs.
  • Apprenticeship is a trade program that leads to certification in a designated trade and allows you to earn while you learn.
  • Entry Level Trades Training (ELTT) programs are offered by colleges and institutes and usually lead to a certificate or diploma.
